Schedule An Inspection

You may be eligible to receive substantial discounts on your current homeowner’s insurance policy year after year by having your home inspected.

Florida  homeowners’ insurance policies are broken into two separate categories. One-third of  the policy consists of a  “normal” homeowners policy while two-thirds consists of the “wind” policy.

Effective March 1, 2001, Florida State Legislation adopted provisions for a new statewide building code called the "2001 Florida Building Code" that requires insurance companies to provide discounts on  homeowners insurance if certain qualifications were met. These qualifications are based on certain house features that reduce losses in the event of a windstorm.

The possible savings vary for every homeowner but is based on the same primary factors.

Wind Resistive Features
Some features qualify for up to 10% in discounts while others may qualify for less.  The more wind resistive features present on the home, the higher the discount can be. The overall discount on the windstorm policy can be up to as much as 30% in total discounts.

Location
In Florida, wind insurance rates vary by location. If the home is located in a high wind area and has those features that protect it from possible wind damage the dollar amount will be higher versus a home located in a low wind area where the dollar amount may not be as much.

Home Value
Discounts are calculated as a percentage of the wind  premium for each  individual home. High value homes have higher premiums, hence, the dollar value of the discount will increase as the value of the home increases.

What construction features qualify for discounts?

HouseThe following figure shows typical features that reduce wind damage. Over 90% of existing houses have one or more of these wind resistive construction features and may qualify for some insurance discounts. In addition, houses built after 1994 in Miami-Dade or Broward Counties and houses built after 2002 in the rest of the state generally have many wind resistive construction features and will likely qualify for significant credits.
